home-decor

Ever since we moved into an apartment on a 7th floor, my 8 year old and 5 year old have been complaining about not having enough space to play. They kept reminding me of how boring the house looks. So after careful thought, given enough consideration to how important the atmosphere of the home is for children’s development, we decided to redecorate our home every 6 -8 months.

It initially surprised me to hear my husband suggest that, because I had tremendous dollar figures spinning in my head. But, after he explained to me, the plan he had intelligently considered, I couldn’t do anything but agree.

We would move the furniture, redo the cushioning of the sofas, the curtains and the carpeting (which I, quite creditable in sewing, had to take care of), rearrange the décor or replace them altogether and paint the walls. We planned to do the painting once a year.

The plan was wonderful and it would cost us very little. The kids were quite happy and look forward to helping us too. With our plans, we managed to cerate spacious play areas with the little resources we had.

Since me and my husband both are skilled handymen, having taken up jobs varying from electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, etc, from time to time, we do all the redecorating by ourselves and therefore, it is so much fun too.
